Ingredients
– 1 pound ground beef
– 1 cup long-grain white rice
– 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
– 1 can (10.5 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies
– 1 cup beef broth
– 1 medium onion, chopped
– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon onion powder
– 1 teaspoon paprika
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Making Ground Beef & Rice Casserole is straightforward if you follow these simple steps:
1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Break it up with a spatula until it’s fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
3. Add Vegetables: Incorporate the chopped onion into the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
4. Mix Ingredients: In the skillet, add the rice, cream of mushroom soup, diced tomatoes (with juices), beef broth, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Stir to combine everything well.
5. Season: Add salt and pepper to taste. Taste the mixture to ensure it’s seasoned to your liking.
6. Transfer to Bakeware: Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
7. Cover with Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously on top of the casserole.
8. Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes.
9. Uncover and Brown: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and turn golden brown.
10. Garnish: Once done, remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
