Creating your Five-Cheese Ziti al Forno can be straightforward if you follow these simple steps:

1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Cook the Ziti: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the ziti until al dente, according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

3. Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened.

4. Brown the Meat (Optional): If using ground beef or Italian sausage, add it to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
